Richard Reeve will join a panel discussion focussed on alternatives to military security. The event is taking place on 11 February 2015 as part of the People's Parliament discussion series hosted by John McDonnell MP, and is organised by Conscience: Taxes for Peace Not War.
Conscience campaigns for a progressive increase in the amount of UK tax spent on peacebuilding, and a decrease in the amount spent on war and preparation for war. It also campaigns for the legal right of those with a conscientious objection to war to have the entire military part of their taxes spent on peacebuilding. This event marks the launch of Conscience's consultation on a Peace Tax Bill. This Bill would enable Conscientious Objectors to Military Taxation to have their taxes redirected away from military spending towards conflict prevention projects.
