SustainableSecurity.org

In 2009, on the the 8th anniversary of 9-11, Oxford Research Group launched the new website SustainableSecurity.org

The website is a platform for promoting a better understanding of the real threats to global security in the 21st century and the policies that should be implemented to address those threats at their root cause. It draws together the best new thinking and analysis from around the world.

The webiste is organised to highlight four interconnected drivers of global insecurity:

Climate Change

Competition over natural resources

Global militarisation

Poverty and marginalisation

Articles and resources are allocated to one or more of these headings, but the overall emphasis is on the interconnected nature of these threats and the need for comprehensive, multilateral approaches to them.

As well as highlighting recently published reports, articles and books, the site also features specially commissioned articles by leading thinkers relating to one or more of the four themes. Recent articles have included:

Andrew Futter - "Why START is Only a Beginning on the Long Road to Nuclear Disarmament"

Tim Street - "The UK and the NPT: Rhetoric, Simulations and Reality"

Janani Vivekananda - "Climate Change, Conflict and Fragility: Understanding the linkages, shaping balanced responses"

John Sloboda - "Swimming Upstream to Sustainable Security"

The site is managed by Co-editors Ben Zala and Ed Wilcox as well as various Associate Editors.
