This report specifically highlights how three crucial treaties fundamental to the international arms control regime are in danger of unravelling: the 1968 Non-Proliferation Treaty, the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and the 1996 Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. It proposes ways in which Britain could play a powerful international role in helping to prevent their collapse, and bring about greater collective security. All of these proposals are within the scope of Government policy on nuclear weapons.
