Tim Street

Associate Fellow, Sustainable Security Programme

Tim Street has been a Fellow of the Sustainable Security Programme since January 2017, specialising in nuclear security and disarmament issues. From 2015 to December 2016 Tim was Senior Programme Officer with the programme, with a focus on the UK’s defence, security and conflict prevention policy.

Tim’s previous work has focused on issues concerning peace, social justice and disarmament. Prior to joining ORG he worked as a researcher with the British American Security Information Council (BASIC) as part of an ESRC-funded PhD at Warwick University. His thesis considered the obstacles to and opportunities for nuclear disarmament in and between the nuclear weapon states. In 2015 he co-edited a report with the Nuclear Education Trust on British military attitudes to nuclear weapons and disarmament.

Before this, Tim conducted research and undertook campaign work for groups including Campaign Against Arms Trade, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, Nuclear Information Service and UK Uncut Legal Action. Tim has a BA in English from UCL and a Masters in War Studies from King’s College London.
